The Chairman's remarks
It's funny how God works. We have, for some time, been praying and looking to recruit an English teacher with an English Honours degree. In the UK this would not be too much of a problem, but in Manipur very unlikely. On our job specification we would want them to be a committed Christian and, just to be more specific, someone who comes from Haipi village. So our job specification has moved from very unlikely to near impossible.
Kai received a phone call from a lady enquiring if she could be given the opportunity of teaching at Emmanuel School. She was invited to come for an interview including a practical demonstration of her teaching in a classroom setting. During the interview it was discovered that she not only holds an honours degree in English but also a theological degree from Calcutta and has had seven years experience of working as the Youth Secretary of a Baptist Association in Nagaland (next state north east of Manipur). It would be wonderful to say that she had lived in the village, but alas no, although her parents were originally from Haipi and migrated to Nagaland several years ago!
She has been a breath of fresh air in her classroom teaching and the students love her lessons. Her husband is an NGO worker in Manipur and that is how she became available to teach at Emmanuel School. To meet the spiritual needs of the pupils we have appointed her as the first ever school Chaplain. Please include Mrs Lhingneining and the other teachers in your prayers.
It's not 'funny how God works' but how wonderfully He works.
The Trust prays that He will bless and overcome 'the very unlikely to the near impossible' needs in your own lives
.
